The Red Green Cardboard and Duct Tape Boat Races
Each year on Festival Saturday, teams of families, friends and businesses compete to build a boat from nothing but cardboard and duct tape. (Duct tape is supplied courtesy of 3M Corporation.) The object is to build a craft that will carry two people around a short water course. "Paddles" are provided. Bring your $10 entry fee, a life jacket if you can, and your sense of humour! Races are run in heats, and winners take home a prize.
You haven't paddled till you've paddled cardboard!

Soap Box Derby
On Sunday afternoon August 7th at 1:00pm, the Festival offers an introduction to Soap Box Derby Racing on Charlie's Hill on Lakeview Drive behind the large soccer field in McMullen Park.
Kids are welcome to try their hand at an afternoon of racing, with the Festival's own cars, under the supervision and guidance of the Amherstview Soap Box Derby Club. All you bring is your bike helmet and an adult to sign a permission/waiver form.
Registration is $2.00 per rider. Drinks and snacks will be provided.
Come early to register and don't miss the Classic Car Show behind McMullen Manor as part of your afternoon.
Admission Prizes
Friday night - early bird prizes! Your entrance band ($10 for entire weekend, $5 single day) is good for the entertainment and most activities for the entire weekend. By filling out the coupon attached to your wrist band, you are also eligible for entrance prizes drawn throughout the weekend.
Free Bike Giveaways
At Sunday afternoon's closing ceremonies, two festival sponsors provide free bikes for two lucky children who are on the grounds. Kids each get one raffle draw entry at any time during the weekend, and if they are on the grounds when their name is picked at festival closing, they get a bike!
